When you search and browse the web, our privacy features let you stay in full control of your personal information security at all times: • Block ad tracking networks — Our privacy features block all hidden trackers we detect, and show you the major ad networks that have been tracking you, so you can track the trackers. • Enhanced encryption protection — We force websites to use encrypted connections whenever possible to keep your data safe from prying eyes of internet service providers and other third parties. • Private search — People use search engines to look up their most sensitive personal questions about finances, health, and politics. Your search history is yours alone, so DuckDuckGo never tracks it. Ever! • Easy-to-understand privacy policies — We partner with Terms of Service Didn't Read to share their ratings and classifications of website terms of service and privacy policies wherever possible.
When you search and browse websites, DuckDuckGo displays the site's privacy grade (A-F). This grading system gives you a clear overview of the site's privacy protection level, shows you which trackers we found on the site, and explains how we enhance privacy protections to block potential tracking. The automatically generated privacy grade is based on the risk of infection from potential tracking networks, encryption availability, and the site's privacy practices.
Our app offers standard browsing features including tabs, bookmarks, and autocomplete controls. On top of these robust privacy protections, we've also built extra privacy features directly into the browser: • Fire Button — One tap to clear all your tabs and browsing data. • Application Lock — Use Touch ID (fingerprint recognition) or Face ID (facial recognition) to lock the app.
