I'm a designer, now a semi-independent developer. I recently spent a week building APPLORE, a website dedicated to exploring and analyzing app icon designs. Let me introduce this project:
Project Background
As a designer with 8 years of experience, I've always been fascinated by app icon and logo design. Every time I browse the App Store, I see plenty of beautiful icons, but also plenty of eye-searing, poorly designed ones. I thought it would be great to have a platform that collects, showcases and analyzes high-quality app icons, so the idea for APPLORE was born.
Development Process
The entire development process took about a week. I used Next.js as the main framework, and leveraged Cursor AI to write code quickly. I'm not a professional developer, so I fully relied on Cursor AI to help build this project.
Core Features
APPLORE's core features include:
- Browse app icons by category, color or release date
- View detailed information for each app
- Analyze color schemes of app icons
- Create and manage custom icon collections
- Powerful search functionality
- Submit new app icons to the database
